Making Sabine: Season 1 Cosplay: The Knee Pads and Pants

Hi everyone! It's me again! The next parts of this cosplay I'm going to tell you about is the knee pads and the pants!
The Knee Pads:
So, the knee pads first got designed by my dad on SOLIDWORKS and then were 3D printed, filled, and sanded!

Then, we painted them what we call "Sabine Red" which is basically a burgundy red color!

Painting the outside! |
After we painted both of them Sabine Red, we added the finishing touches on one of the knee pads by painting a white stripe down the middle of it!

And just to add a little tip in designing Sabine's knee pads, don't make them too big, because they will fall off of your knee easily. This is a comparison of my old ones to the new ones I had made recently:
Yikes!!! |
As you can see, the knee pads on the right are MUCH more accurate! After painting them, we had glued elastic straps with velcro attached to them to the knee pad with E6000 glue!

The glue smells awful but it's worth it! |
Velcro! |
And that's how you make the knee pads!

The Pants:
So the pants are kinda tricky with Sabine. Most people use a pattern and sew it themselves. The problem with that was no one in our family can sew! So, what we did is we went to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Walmart, ANYWHERE to find two pairs of pants that would match the colors of Sabine's! Luckily, we found two pairs of leggings that looked exactly like Sabine's colors!
Soon to be one pair! |
We had our seamstress make these two pairs of leggings into one pair, with the bottom pair sticking out underneath to create the panels!
