Star Wars Things you HAVE to Experience at Walt Disney World 2017

As you've read in one of my past articles, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (aka "Stars Wars Land") is coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. Until then, here's some must-do Star Wars attractions at the Walt Disney World resort in Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park!

STAR WARS LAUNCH BAY

Star Wars Launch Bay is the main building for everything Star Wars! Most of the attractions that listed will be in this building.

TIP: Try to find a Disney PhotoPass member that's standing outside the building and ask for them to take your picture in front of Launch Bay! It's a great photo op!

TRADE WITH A JAWA

These troublesome Jawas hang around the Cantina in Launch Bay. You can trade souvenirs with them such as pins, park maps, and other little toys! You'll either get something good, or a droid head. Make sure to get a picture with them after!

TIP: When you trade with Jawas, bring them something with a droid or a ship on it. They would most likely want to trade something with you if you do.  Also, know that they won't always trade.  Don't feel bad if your item is rejected -- just try again later.

PHOTO-OPS AT CANTINA

This Cantina is located in Launch Bay. There are many photo opportunity places around.  Take a picture holding the glass of blue milk on the bar, or "playing" space chess.  You might even get photo-bombed by a Jawa or two!

TIP: Make sure to get there early when it's not crowded, or when the fireworks or stage shows start and the crowd will be light.

MEET-N- GREET WITH BB-8

Meeting BB-8 is a must do! He actually moves around and speaks the droid language! He might ask you a question or two, so be prepared!

TIP: You cannot bring drinks into this meet-n-greet!

MEET-N-GREET WITH CHEWBACCA

Meeting this "walking carpet" will be a dream come true! Chewbacca interacts with you, gives you a big Wookiee hug, and even roars his language! But make sure you don't wear a shirt with the Dark Side on it, he may just show dismay and has been known to put people "in the corner".  You could tell him you're a rebel spy!

TIP: Chewie didn't receive a medal at end of A New Hope. He may appreciate your support if you tell him that you think he deserves a medal. (That might make up for the Dark Side shirt thing!)

MEET-N-GREET WITH KYLO REN

Encountering Kylo Ren will test your Jedi powers in resisting temptation! Kylo may accuse you of being part of the resistance, or sway you to join the Dark Side.

TIP: Walk in with Resistance clothing if you want to tick him off!

STAR WARS MOVIE MEMORABILIA

You don't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to see the Star Wars galaxy! In Launch Bay you can see replicas of movie props, models, and costumes!  Enjoy the rooms with concept art.

TIP: Get your cameras ready! You will want to take pictures of all of this stuff!

LAUNCH BAY THEATER

In Launch Bay Theater, behind-the-scenes footage of the Star Wars movies can be viewed. It's a great place to rest your feet!

TIP: As said above, it's a great place to kick back and relax during a long, hard day at the park. It's also air-conditioned!

GET ARRESTED BY STORMTROOPERS

Getting arrested by Stormtroopers is the best experience you can have on this list! Only certain people get arrested!

TIP: Try to wear or hold something from the Resistance  or against the First Order (a t-shirt, a cup, a hat), or say something to them!

MARCH OF THE FIRST ORDER

Star Wars "March of the First Order" takes place several times during the day.  Captain Phasma leads a battalion of Stormtroopers up and down the main street of the park, leading up to the stage in front of the Chinese Theater.  You may even get face to face with a Stormtrooper!

TIP: Get to the stage early so you can stand in the very front!

STAR WARS A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY

Star Wars "A Galaxy Far, Far Away" is a staged show that will bring some of your favorite Star Wars characters to life! Recently, Rey has joined the line of characters!

TIP: Arrive early before the show to get the best viewing.

STAR TOURS: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE

"Star Tours: The Adventures Continue" takes you through different parts of the galaxy, making it feel like you are in an actual spaceship! You might even see some familiar faces, too!

TIP: This ride may give some people motion sickness. Take motion sickness medicine before going on the ride.

STAR WARS FOOD AT BACKLOT EXPRESS

The Backlot Express restaurant offers American-style food with a Star Wars twist! (Try the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles. It's really good!)

TIP:  There is limited seating in this restaurant and it is always crowded! So when a seat's available, take it!

ENDOR SPEEDER BIKE PHOTO-OP

This famous photo-op spot is located outside of Star Tours.

TIP: Make sure you snap your pictures fast. There's always lines for this photo spot.

BUILD YOUR OWN LIGHTSABER AT TATOOINE TRADERS

Follow the Padawan path and build your own lightsaber! You can even build a double-bladed one!

TIP: Make sure you know what you want before you go build your lightsaber! The "cast members" working there know what pieces go together and will help.

STAR WARS: TRIALS OF THE TEMPLE

You've got a youngling? Wouldn't they love to go battle Darth Vader and The Seventh Sister (Star Wars Rebels)? Now they can in Star Wars: Trials of the Temple!

TIP: Get to the park when they first open so you can get a spot before they all run out! Check with Disney Parks cast members to learn where to sign up -- the location to sign up is NOT located outside of the Star Tours ride.

STAR WARS: A GALACTIC SPECTACULAR

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular is a nightly show which includes lasers, projections, and fireworks!

TIP: Get there early and try to stand in the middle of the crowd. If you try to view the show too close to the stage, you will miss the projection screens on either side of the main screen. Too far back makes it difficult to see the show.
